He had special expertise in two areas, including colorectal cancer and colorectal surgery. He was credited as the founder of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. == Background and education == After serving three years as an United States Army surgeon, Dr. Klatt returned to school and became a colorectal specialist. He received his medical degree in 1968 from the University of Minnesota Medical School.
